Kilkenny and Carlow Adult Educational Guidance Service provides individuals and groups with an opportunity to identify, explore and review educational and career options. The service endeavours to support individuals and enable them to make decisions for their future learning and/or career progression.

The service is an integral part of the Adult Education Service of Kilkenny and Carlow ETB and an educational guidance service is provided to learners participating on adult literacy, V.T.O.S., B.T.E.I. and community education programmes.  Adults referred by the local INTREO office can also avail of one-to-one guidance appointments.  Adults can access the Adult Educational Guidance Service for the purposes of up to date, impartial adult educational information.

Adult Educational Guidance Initiative (AEGI)

Kilkenny and Carlow Adult Educational Guidance Services were established as part of the AEGI. This is a Department of Education and Skills funded initiative which provides a quality educational guidance service for adults.

There are currently 39 AEGI Services based nationwide within the Education Training Boards (ETBs) and Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT). (National Centre for Guidance in Education, 2014)
